Thank you for visiting the Great Dane section! We have had great interest in these dogs and hope to answer all of your questions in one place.

Most know that the Green County Sheriff’s Department seized 46 dogs, mostly Great Danes, from a home in Green County at the end of May. Green County Humane Society assumed the care of these dogs while the case went to court. While in our care, 17 Great Dane puppies were born, bringing the total to 63 dogs. In July, GCHS was given possession of 50 of the dogs. In November, GCHS was given possession of nine additional dogs.

Please note that despite GCHS’s possession of these dogs, there are still ongoing law enforcement matters pending, so all of the dogs will not be immediately up for adoption. The dogs we are able to spay or neuter at this time are being scheduled for surgery over the upcoming weeks.

As with most of the dogs that come to the shelter, we do not know much about their history or medical conditions.  Though we have diligently watched and cared for these animals since May, we cannot and do not guarantee the health of any of these dogs.

Please take a few moments and familiarize yourself with the information on the following pages. As always, do not hesitate to contact the shelter if you have further questions.
